Bailiff Scams

Beware of Fraudulent Bailiff Scams!

We have recently been alerted to a growing concern involving fraudulent individuals and entities impersonating Enforcement Agents (EAs). These scammers are targeting unsuspecting individuals and businesses, using deceptive tactics to extort money under the guise of legitimate enforcement actions.

These fraudsters often initiate contact through phone calls, falsely claiming to represent enforcement agencies or bailiff services. They typically demand immediate payment over the phone, threatening that failure to comply will result in bailiffs or enforcement agents arriving at the premises within the hour to seize goods or take further action. Their approach is alarmingly sophisticated—they are well-versed in enforcement terminology, procedures, and even local details, which makes their claims appear highly convincing and credible to those unfamiliar with the legitimate process.

At UK Bailiff Services Limited, we are committed to protecting our clients and the public from such scams. To ensure that the Enforcement Agent (EA) visiting your premises is a genuine, authorised representative of our company, we strongly recommend taking the following precautionary steps:

Verify Their Credentials on the Certificated Bailiff Register: All legitimate EAs in England and Wales must be certificated by a court.

You can confirm their status by searching the official Certificated Bailiff Register at https://certificatedbailiffs.justice.gov.uk/. Simply enter the EA’s name to verify they are registered and authorised to act.

Check Their Identification (ID) Card: Genuine EAs are required to carry and present an official identification card, which includes their certification details, photograph, and other identifying information. Always ask to see this ID and scrutinise it carefully to confirm their identity matches the register.

Contact Us Directly for Verification: If you have any doubts about the EA’s authenticity or their purpose for visiting, do not hesitate to call us directly at 0330 1331818. We can confirm whether we have instructed the EA to visit your premises and verify their identity on your behalf. This step ensures you are dealing with a legitimate representative acting under our authority.

At UK Bailiff Services Limited, we adhere strictly to the Tribunals, Courts and Enforcement Act 2007 (TCEA) and the Taking Control of Goods Regulations 2013, ensuring all our actions are transparent, lawful, and professional. Our certificated EAs are trained to operate with integrity, and we will never demand payment over the phone or threaten immediate action without following proper legal procedures, such as serving a formal Notice of Enforcement with the required seven-day notice period for CRAR cases.

If you suspect you’ve been contacted by a fraudster posing as an EA, report it immediately to Action Fraud at www.actionfraud.police.uk or call 0300 123 2040. Additionally, inform us so we can assist in addressing the issue and protecting others from similar scams.

Your safety and trust are our priority. By following these steps, you can confidently verify the legitimacy of any Enforcement Agent claiming to represent UK Bailiff Services Limited, ensuring you’re protected from fraudulent schemes.
