How to verify an agent

1) Ask for these details

  • Agent’s full name and company
  • Agent’s certificate(issuing court and expiry date)
  • Your address and the instruction reference they are acting under
  • Name of the instructing client(e.g., council, landlord, solicitor)

2) Contact us to confirm

Call our office and quote the instruction reference and the agent’s name. We’ll confirm the attendance and authority while the agent waits.

We may ask you to confirm basic details (e.g., postcode/door number) so we can locate the instruction.

3) Optional cross‑checks

  • Check the public Certificated Enforcement Agent register(name must match the ID)
  • Match the vehicle registration given by our office
  • Ask for a business card or written notice that shows our company name

We will never ask you to pay into an individual’s bank account or by gift cards/crypto. If anyone claims to be from us and pressures you to do so, end the contact and call us.

Verification FAQs

What is a certificated enforcement agent?
An agent authorised by the County Court to act under Schedule 12 of the Tribunals, Courts and Enforcement Act 2007 (Taking Control of Goods). Certificates are time‑limited and show the issuing court.
Can I verify without speaking to the agent?
Yes. Call us and give your address and any reference number from a letter or notice. We’ll confirm whether we have an active instruction.
What if the name on the ID doesn’t match?
Do not engage. Close the door and call us. You can also report suspected impersonation to the police on 101.
